Fire Rated, Hygienic Ceiling Tiles for a Surrey Skincare Company

  • A great experience with Surrey Ceiling Tiles

“I had a great experience with Surrey Ceiling Tiles. Colin and Debbie were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process, especially given my limited knowledge at the start. They took the time to explain all the different options available and guided me towards the correct ceiling tiles that met both the installation requirements and current fire regulations.

The project involved upgrading an older ceiling system and installing new tiles into an existing grid, and they made sure everything I ordered was fully compatible with what I already had in place. They were always at the end of the phone whenever I needed advice, which made a big difference when working with a new company.

Overall, the level of support and guidance was exactly what you’d hope for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”

Ceiling Tile Enquiry:

A Surrey-based skincare company got in touch with us as they required hygienic ceiling tiles with very specific properties. The company operates in a controlled working environment, so they needed tiles that were not only hygienic, but fire rated. In addition, the new ceiling installation needed to comply fully with building regulations and pass sign-off from a building control surveyor.

The project involved the conversion of their existing 1200mm x 600mm grid to a 600mm x 600mm grid. This meant that the current Ventatec suspended ceiling grid required additional 600mm noggins to support the new tile size correctly.

As part of the solution we recommended:

  • Fire resistant, hygienic, antimicrobial, and water resistant ceiling tiles
  • Hold down clips to secure the tiles for ease of cleaning
  • 600mm noggins to convert to 600x600mm ceiling grid
  • Full manufacturer-backed datasheets

Providing the correct specification tiles was critical on this project.

Challenges Along the Way

Although the customer approached several competitors, many failed to meet the full specification. For example:

  • Some tiles did not meet fire rating or hygiene requirements
  • Promised lead times could not be guaranteed
  • Incorrect grid systems were quoted, which would not have achieved the required fire rating
  • Technical information lacked manufacturer backing

Having experienced uncertainty elsewhere, the customer was offered clear guidance by our team, supported by official manufacturer datasheets. As always, our customer-first approach helped us to build trust and ensure the correct ceiling tile specifications from the outset.

Resolution:

Once the specification was confirmed, we secured the compliant tiles directly with the manufacturer and arranged scheduled delivery dates. We then:

  • Sent all technical datasheets to the building surveyor for approval
  • Delivered the upgraded grid system prior to the tile delivery
  • Organised two scheduled deliveries for 80 boxes of tiles
  • Ensured all materials arrived within the deadline set by the customer

The contractor completed the installation within the required deadline, and the project achieved full compliance with building regulations.
